What's Up? ...Me!

Bucket Lists: Most people have them… and I wonder in a lifetime how many people have “hike the Swiss Alps” on their lists and how many people actually accomplish this. Well I can now say that I have accomplished this!

We have a caretaker (who does a little bit of everything for us) at the villa, named Daniela. She told us, “Oh anybody can do this hike.” Haha I’m really not so sure about that. By far this was the most intense and hardest hike I have ever been on. Literally continually steep the entire time (but I guess it has to be when you start at an elevation of 273 meters and end up at 1,096 meters… a total rise of 2,700 feet!!!)

Monte San Giorgio. The name of the mountain we hiked. Of course it wasn’t one of the huge Swiss Alp Mountains, but nonetheless our group hiked to the very top of its peak. And oh man was it worth it!! After all the struggle to get to the top, the breath taking view is one of the best views I have ever seen, nothing like it!

It was a clear day, only with small patches of clouds. I felt like I could see forever, even in the distance I could see snow covered mountains. I was literally on top of the world. I could not stop taking pictures because there was so much to capture.

Almost all of our group ventured to the top! Just look at us, all relieved to finally have made the climb :) (and happy after getting to eat our much deserved bag lunches!)

After eating, taking a bunch of pics, and hanging out at the top, it was time to say good bye and make the descent down to the bottom again.  But not before I got one more picture, all by myself haha

On our way back down, We took a different trail going through a small town with vineyards and quaint buildings. Just another opportunity to take in the culture around us and get more photos!

By the time we reached our villa, we crashed. Needless to say I was sore the next day. But man it was something else to be on top of that mountain… also it was great we all got to do it as a group because I got to know my classmates much better! Can’t wait for more adventures to come!!!
